STATE DYNO DAYS RULES & REGULATIONS 

What do you need to provide?

  • Ensure you have at least 1/2 tank of fuel, there is nothing worse than running low on fuel on a full power run.
  • All vehicles must have exhaust systems complete from front to back.
  • If you have any special requirements in relation to the way to vehicle will be run, please let us know in advance.
  • The dyno day is held for rear wheel drive cars only.

Legal Terms:

Prior to placing the vehicle on the dyno, you will be giving a form to sign authorising your vehicle to be placed on the dyno.

  1. You must state on the disclaimer the max RPM range to take your vehicle to.
  2. By placing the vehicle on the dyno, and signing this form, the designated workshops involved around Australia or their associated agents do not accept any responsibility whatsoever, in any way, manner or form in relation to any Engine/Fitment damage that may occur to the vehicle or yourselves.
  3. Before your run, it is expected that the vehicle is warmed up and ready to go on the dyno.

Rules for the Shootout Competition

There are four categories for both Holden and Ford …

6cyl. Naturally/Aspirated    (Ford & Holden)

6cyl. Forced/Induction         (Ford & Holden)

8cyl. Naturally/Aspirated    (Ford & Holden)

i) Below 6.0 ltr

ii) 6.0 ltr and above

8cyl. Forced/Induction         (Ford & Holden)

  1. Any participating workshop has the right to deny entry on the grounds of safety or some other reason that may not be in the spirit of the competition.
  2. Entrants must secure a time with the workshop staff to put their cars on rollers and sign a disclaimer absolving the workshop of any responsibility for any mechanical failure the Entrant’s car may suffer during the run.
  3. Cars must be driven to and from the Dyno Cell and Host workshop.
  4. Entrants should be ready at the Dyno Cell at least 20 mins before their nominated time.
  5. Once the competition has begun on the day, no futher work can be performed on the competing car.
  6. Any offensive or abusive actions will result in immediate disqualification of the vehicle and entrant.
  7. Entrants will only be given a second chance if there is a problem with the testing .Cars entered must be street driven vehicles with full road registration.
  8. It will be up to the workshop judges and organisers to determine the final decision on the streetability of a car.
  9. Cars that are highly unstreetable or unsafe in any way will not be allowed to enter the competition.
  10. No Competition or workshop owned cars are to enter.
  11. No restriction on type of Fuel used. Can use race fuels so long as they are unleaded.
  12. No form of boost spiking is permitted in the competition.
  13. Cars must have acceptable exhaust systems. (At least one full size muffler and pipes to at least the front of the diff).
  14. Nitrous bottles must be removed from the vehicle before the competition.
  15. No water, ice and dry ice to be used as aids for cooling intercoolers and intercooler exchanges.
  16. Any manual vehicle capable of revving higher than 7500rpm must be fitted with a Scatter shield or Ballistic Blanket.
  17. 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder cars will be revved to a max of 7000rpm.
  18. All Dyno runs will be full throttle power runs. The maximum power reading to be before the 200kph max speed of the dyno.
  19. Only the operator, owner or nominated person of the car is allowed in the dyno area during the dyno run session and must be seated in the car with the operator in the drivers seat. The car owner has the ability to stop the dyno run at any time, as does the workshop operator.
  20. All entrants must run with bonnets on for safety reasons. This includes any exhibition cars. Bonnets may only be removed at the discretion of the workshop.
  21. Bonnets and boots must be fitted with original opening and closing hinge mechanisms.
  22. No slicks, recaps or remould tyres are permitted.
  23. Drive tyres must be inflated to 50psi. It is the responsibility of the Entrant to deflate the tyres to correct pressures after testing is completed.

NOTE: State & National trophies will not be awarded when there are two (or less) cars in a class unless a car delivers an outstanding performance. This will be the Competition Directors decision.

DISPUTES will be managed by the Competition Director. He will consult with the workshop members and a decision made within 15 minutes. His decision is final.

Points System for Dyno Shootouts Throughout The Year

Each Round (in each state):

Single points only will be awarded.
i.e. If your car scores 300.8 on the Dyno, you get 300.8 points for that round.

At the end of  round 3, the car with the most points tallied up together from all three rounds will be declared the OFFICIAL STATE DYNO SHOOTOUT CHAMPION winner for that state only in that category:

6 cylinder Forced Induction         (Holden/Ford)

6 cylinder Naturally Aspirated    (Holden/Ford)

8 cylinder Naturally Aspirated    (Holden/Ford)

i) Below 6.0 ltr

ii) 6.0 ltr and above

8 cylinder Forced Induction         (Holden/Ford)

After round three has been completed and a winner declared in BOTH Holden and Ford for each of the four categories, those winners from ALL STATES will then be invited to compete for the chance to be the AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DYNO SHOOTOUT CHAMPION in each category. There will also be an OVERALL AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DYNO SHOOTOUT CHAMPION winner too (from ANY of the four categories)

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST REGISTER AND PAY FOR EACH EVENT ON THE DYNO SHOOTOUT WEBSITE TO BE ELIGEABLE FOR POINTS TO COUNT TOWARDS THE END OF YEAR STATE CHAMPION.

You can attend an event locally without registering and paying online BUT your score WILL NOT count towards the STATE & AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL DYNO SHOOTOUT CHAMPION
